With your support, the Aggie Eagle Program has continued to grow District by District, Council by Council. We are in the planning stage for the Spring AEP, to be held February 22-23, 2008. However, before we get too far along, we have attached the latest newsletter which describes some of the events that took place during the fall AEP. Please share it with as many Scouts and Scouters as you can. The spring programs are always held after the February 1 deadline for applying to Texas A&M for the upcoming fall semester. Therefore, seniors must have a completed application on file with Admissions in order to attend. Obviously, this concern does not apply to juniors. If a Scout has not received their Eagle, they may still attend. Active participation in Scouting qualifies juniors and seniors for attendance. We are routinely told that many Scouts return from the AEP highly motivated to complete their Eagle project. Sea and Venture Scouts may also attend. Seeing over 300 Cadets wearing the red, white and blue Eagle ribbon over their nameplate seems to be the motivating factor. We believe that the spring program is going to be one of our best. Supported by the Aggie Eagle Post, the event provides for a lot of interaction between the Scouts and the Cadets, something both groups seem to enjoy. Of course, the scholarship opportunities are significant, and the chance for in state tuition even more material for an out of state Scout. Every summer, I meet parents of Eagles who bemoan the fact that they did not hear of the AEP. Please tell someone about us. Forward this newsletter. Place the date on the calendar and consider linking your webpage to ours. We have the scholarships and there are few people more disserving than an Eagle Scout. We hope you enjoy the newsletter. You may use all or any part of it and/or our webpage for Scouting purposes. The printed copies will be mailed to those Councils that have traditionally received them within the next ten days. Please distribute them to your Scouts like you have in the past. If you want to receive printed copies, just reply to this email with your mailing address and the number of copies that you want. Thanks again for your continued support. Gig’em Joe G. Bax ‘01 Director, Aggie Eagle Program
